MATRIX is undertaking two action research pilot projects. The First Stop
Shop project is establishing and testing a strategic network of partners
who can provide CPD information and guidance to individuals in the sector.
The Reflective
Practitioner project is exploring what and how artists and makers need

How the project works
These project partner hosts will each support the continuing professional
development (CPD) needs of two practitioners through the allocation of
a £2,000 training bursary. This bursary may be spent on self-chosen
CPD activities during the period April 2002 and March 2003. These activities
might include: skill sharing/swapping/learning, shadowing, visits and
exchanges, reading/writing/creating, seminars, training courses and conferences.
We hope practitioners will make imaginative choices!
Practitioners will be supported by their host in a variety of ways such
as access to certain facilities and resources and support and guidance
meetings. Also, practitioners will be able to choose an independent mentor
for their programme if they wish. Practitioners will make a commitment
to undertaking reporting on and evaluating their learning journeys. They
will also take part in peer group reflection and in a final showing/sharing
of their development, as well as contributing to generating a meaningful
language for arts based CPD.
